eBay removed my listing through VeRO — what to do
How eBay's Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) program works, why eBay won't reinstate on its own, and how to ask the rights owner to retract a mistaken report.
eBay's VeRO program lets rights owners report listings that infringe their intellectual property. eBay removes the listing and emails you the rights owner's contact details.
Why eBay won't decide
eBay acts on the rights owner's report rather than judging ownership. To get a listing back, you normally need the rights owner to retract their report.
If the report is mistaken
- Contact the rights owner using the details in eBay's email. Be brief and factual, and attach proof: original photo files, design files, process photos, and the dates you first listed the item. The retraction request template gives you a starting point.
- Ask them to email eBay to retract the report for that listing.
- Keep copies of everything in case the dispute continues.
If it's valid
End the listing and don't relist the item. Repeated VeRO removals can restrict your account.
Copies of your own work on eBay
If someone on eBay is using your photos, you can report them — as an individual maker — through VeRO. See how to report a copy on eBay.

Questions
- Will eBay reinstate my listing if I explain?
- Generally not on its own. Under VeRO, eBay removes listings reported by rights owners and directs sellers to resolve the issue with the rights owner, who can retract the report.
- Can makers use VeRO against copies of their work?
- Yes. Rights owners — including individual makers — can join VeRO and report listings that copy their photos or designs. See our page on reporting copies on eBay.
