Photo permission letter template for stockists and resellers
Give named shops written permission to use your product photos — so legitimate stockists aren't mistaken for copycats, and copies stand out.
If boutiques or wholesale customers sell your work, written permission keeps things clear: they know what they may use, and you can show platforms which listings are authorized. In MakerSentry, add their domains to Authorized domains so their listings never show up as copies.

Subject: Permission to use [SHOP NAME] product photographs Hello [STOCKIST NAME], This letter confirms that [STOCKIST BUSINESS NAME] ([STOCKIST WEBSITE / SHOP URL]) may use my product photographs of the items listed below to sell genuine [SHOP NAME] products bought from me. Items: [PRODUCT NAMES OR "all products supplied by [SHOP NAME]"] This permission: - covers your own website and marketplace listings for products you've bought from me; - doesn't allow editing the photos to remove my branding, or using them for other products; - doesn't transfer copyright, which stays with me; - ends if we stop working together, or on [END DATE, IF ANY]. Thank you for stocking my work. [YOUR NAME] [SHOP NAME] · [EMAIL] · [DATE]
Why it helps
When your photos appear on many sites, automated marketplace checks can't tell stockists from copycats. A written list of authorized sellers makes your appeals and takedowns more convincing.
Questions
- Should I charge for photo permission?
- That's a business decision. Most makers include it free for stockists who buy wholesale.
MakerSentry
Keeps dated proof of every listing, finds copies weekly, tracks takedowns and builds your appeal if Etsy removes a listing.
