Shopify hosts your store, so copyright complaints about your products or photos go to Shopify under its [copyright policy](https://www.shopify.com/legal/dmca). Shopify forwards the complaint and may disable the content.

## If the complaint is wrong

1. **Collect your proof**: original photo and design files, process photos, and the dates you first published the product on any platform.
2. **File a counter-notification** through the method Shopify's notice gives you. It must include specific elements — see the [counter notice template](/templates/dmca-counter-notice).
3. **Wait out the window.** If the complainant doesn't tell Shopify they've started a lawsuit, the content can be restored after 10–14 business days.

## If the complaint is right

Remove the product and replace any images or text you didn't create.

## Copies of your Shopify products elsewhere

Your own store's photos get copied too — onto marketplaces and other Shopify stores. MakerSentry imports a Shopify store's catalog automatically and searches for copies; see [how to report a copy on a Shopify store](/report/shopify).

## Questions

**How long until my content is restored after a counter-notification?**

Under the DMCA process, material can be restored 10–14 business days after a valid counter-notification unless the complainant tells the host they've filed a lawsuit.

**Will the complainant see my details?**

Yes. A counter-notification includes your name, address and contact details, and it's passed to the person who complained.
